I’m Aafke Visser, an illustrator and designer based in
Wellington, New Zealand.
My creative work mainly focuses on plants, gardens and nature. I love working with these themes and especially enjoy combining illustration with hand-drawn letttering.
With over 10 years' experience as a graphic designer and illustrator, I have worked on a range of projects including illustration, design and layout, lettering, and surface pattern design.

Plants, gardens & nature
Depicting plants and gardens through imagery and lettering gives me a lot of joy. I also love to spend time in the outdoors, gardening, and growing plants and veggies from seed.
Process
I work both digitally and with traditional materials. My work usually starts out as pencil sketches, and then I either use these to create the design digitally using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and a Wacom tablet, or I complete the work with traditional materials of pencil, gouache or ink. My digital work often includes texture and elements that I have created with traditional materials, as I love the texture and uniqueness that comes from creating by hand.
